Samsung Officially Unpacks Their Most Powerful Galaxy Note Ever
Samsung has unveiled their latest device at the Unpacked event in Brooklyn, NY. Confirming the leaks and rumors, the Galaxy Note 9 is official and may well be their most powerful phone to date.
Last years Note 8 was more of a fix to what was wrong with the Note 7 and gaining the trust of consumers again. This might have impacted their hardware in the Note 8 as it didn’t feel like the workhorse it once was. The Note 9 crushes all previous models by offering some absurd upgrades in pretty much every category.
Coming in at 6.4-inches, the Super Amoled end-to-end display hasn’t changed much from the Note 8; which isn’t a bad thing. Samsung also announced the Note 9 display is YouTube Certified as a perfect device to use for watching YouTube content. Dual cameras in the back also adapt the dual aperture feature from the S9 series while the new fingerprint scanner now sits underneath the camera for easier reach. USB-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack covers the bottom of the phone and the built in speakers are now front facing AKG tuned speakers.
The S-Pen is where Samsung has given this loved Note item a refresh. With the standard note features available Samsung has added a small battery and Low Energy Bluetooth to the Pen. In doing this, the S-Pen now becomes an extension of the phone, allowing you to not only open apps by long pressing the button, snap photos, change cameras, a clicker for PowerPoint slideshows and more. This alone is a huge change for the Pen and something I look forward to using more.
Now, this is where things get crazy. Samsung has made two models available for the Note 9, a whopping 128GB base model with 6GB of RAM and a 512GB storage option with 8GB of RAM. This is alone is just insane for them to do because not only do 6/8GB of RAM improves performance but the ability to also add external memory could potentially have you with 1TB of storage in your phone.
Along with the storage and ram increase, we also have the largest battery in a Samsung phone to date; 4000 mAh. The phone is sure to last you the entire day through heavy use and if you’re worried about performance fatigue when overworked, Samsung has added a Water/Carbon Finer cooling system to keep it from underperforming. This works great when using the phone for work, gaming or even docked with Dex.
The Galaxy Note 9 will be available in two colors in the US: Ocean Blue and Lavender Purple with a MSRP of $999 for the 128GB model and $1,249 for the 512GB. The Ocean Blue model will also be paired with a special Neon Yellow S-Pen while the Purple gets a color corresponding pen. Pre Orders begin August 10th with all major carriers and releasing August 24th.
