Unboxing The Sony PS4 Pro
With this PS4 Pro unboxing, it seems like we’re unboxing a new console every couple of months or so this year. Similar to Microsoft Sony decide that it was time for a mid console refresh which brings us the PS4 Pro.
The PS4 Pro is a slightly more powerful console come from Sony with a faster clocked 2.1 GHz Jaguar 8-Core processor and GPU that produces 4.2 TLFLOPS. These boost ins specs bring Sony into the 4K realm. The PS4 Pro can do 4K HDR Video and gaming playback. The gaming won’t be native 4K but will upscale higher resolution content to 4K. One omission for Sony is the Blu-Ray drive is standard and not an Ultra HD Blu-Ray player like the Xbox One S. Depending on how you view content this could be good or bad for you.
The build of the PS4 Pro is very similar to the PS4 Slim but with an extra layer stack on top of it. You get ports for HDMI (HDR supported), Gigabit Ethernet, Accessory port for Playstation Camera, power port and optical audio which is missing on the PS4 Slim and I’m glad to see it here on the PS4 Pro. For what’s in the package here is what you get.
- PS4 Pro
- DualShock 4 Controller
- USB Cable
- HDMI Cable
- Wired earbuds
- Power Cable
What’s interesting here is beside the name on the box there isn’t currently a “pro” feeling for me. The software setup is the same as the PS4 Slim. There we no extras regarding accessories or software on the console. Disappointing but I’ll continue to dig through and see if that changes. Watch our unboxing and setup video and stay tuned for our full review coming soon.
