The LG Chocolate Touch is a powerhouse media phone pack in a light compact size. Does if offer the big features that this small package offers. Check the review inside to find out.
LG has loaned us this review unit phone to experience the product for our independent review.
Hardware
The screen looks nice and bright with clear colors and the touch screen works just as well as on the LG Dare. The weight of the phone is much lighter that I thought it would be which makes it much easier to slide in your pocket. The buttons on the front are more of a fingerprint shape to make them easier to use and all other buttons are on the side of the phone. It comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera but no flash and 1GB internal storage but you can install a micro SD card up to 32 GB in space to fit all your content. You also have Bluetooth and 3G data speeds with EV-DO Rev. A technology. It would have been nice if the camera was a big higher in resolution and came with flash but overall the hardware is solid like most LG phones.
Accessories
Accessories are pretty much standard with the package. The only real noteworthy item is the customizable back plates which add a more personal touch to the phone.
Software
The software UI on the phone is Verizon’s “RED” flash UI with LG customization in them. You get the standard package of options and “desktop like” main screen that you can place shortcuts and widgets on for easy access. You also have added bonuses of corporate e-mail support and USB mass storage support. The phone main focus of software is on multimedia and specifically music and you have a ton of options there to enhance your experience with the Join The Band option which lets you play either the drums or piano while you are playing music and Rhythmic Beat which lets the phone vibrate to the beat of the music you are playing. You also have access the VCast music which supports Rhapsody music to buy music on the go and you have a built in FM Radio to round up multimedia software, overall great way to add to the experience of the phone.
Final Thoughts
In a world where smartphone are the premiere phones to have the LG Chocolate Touch speaks to a demographic that is not quite ready or looking for full smartphone capabilities but wants all the cool and advanced entertainment features you get with smartphones. The LG Chocolate Touch is right in that sweetspot and is a top contender for anyone looking to a high end phone with simplicity. The LG Chocolate Touch is one to recommended.
