The first problem WM has is perception. The normal writers from most of the major websites engadget, gizmodo etc are not normal WM carriers. Most of the writers get these phones from companies; use for a day or two and write a post on their blogs without giving the OS its fair shot. They base their posts with legacy experiences with WM and others opinions. These sites pick their favorites also. Android which in my opinion has many similarities with WM (HTC Sense) is the new darling of the writers it also has very good Marketing. WM is not the iPhone in forms of User Experience but WM6.5 and HTC are really working towards making the WM user experience much better. The functionality and hardware for many of the WM devices are astonishing especially the Touch Pro 2 and HD2. I am not a WM apologist and they do have some work to do. But with the right tools and changes with WM7 as well good marketing of hardware and functionality of WM6.5 /WM7 all the fortunes can turn around very quickly.

Bowman, what do you thik of the titanium interface for wm 6.5? I like it and occaisonally turn off my sense ui in favor of the titanium homescreen...saves a bit of memory too in my htc. I agree Microsoft needs to make sure they have a platform that continues to allow customization. Some of the best word of mouth advertising comes from experts. And wm experts who create roms can help bring in, and keep new users in the widows mobile camp.
