The XOOM includes a video editing application called Movie Studio which will let you edit your own award winning movie from the video and pictures that you take. Let’s take a look to see how well this app works.
Movie Studio has a simple interface with pretty simple and easy to use controls. The left circle controls your track zoom and the right controls your playback. You can easily add content just by pressing the video, picture or sound icon to add your content. Some content can take a few seconds to load up especially music and when doing that you can’t continue editing until the files is loaded into it. This holds trust for transitions as well and video previews and thumbnails can take few seconds to refresh and show. We also had some issues with adding transition as it seems there is a limit to how many you can add in a project and I wasn’t able to add a title to the video we uploaded for some strange reason but we were able to do that in our video review below.
One you have your masterpiece ready you can export which give you a couple of options to export 848×480 or export in 1280 x 720p HD. Export times for me were about 2 minutes with a 50 second video and 4 minutes with a 2 minute video. Quality of the video is on part with what you see from most cell phone cameras that shoot HD. You can see from our video below that its hard to tell if it was shot with a tablet or a phone.
The Movie Studio application is a nice addition to the tablet but still has some bugs to work out. It’s a usable app and will get the job done but as of right now it will be quickly process to get your video made.
