SkyDrive is Microsoft cloud storage solution and today they released a new desktop app for both Windows and Mac OS. The app is available for Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and OS X Lion. The desktop app create a separate folder on your computer that will sync with your cloud storage. You can drag and drop files over (up to 2 GB per file) and  sync them to the cloud. There is also a new fetch file option that lets you access your files from a remote PC running the same SkyDrive app which will come in handy if you forget to sync a file you need

.

Microsoft has also changed the free storage option as new users will received 7 GB of storage and there are new yearly plans for additional storage. Current users can opt-in their accounts to keep their 25 GB and if you are now uses 4GB or more than you will automatically be opted-in so you don’t lose the storage. This is a limited time offer so upgrade your accounts ASAP.

The download is available now all you need to do is login to the web version of SkyDrive to grab it.

For Windows Phone users the SkyDrive App has been updated as well and now includes batch selecting, quick share, folder permissions management and more.

Dell’s entry into the Ultrabook market the XPS 13 is now available starting at $999. We first saw the XPS 13 at CES 2012 and the specs are impressive with a 13.3 HD display with 1.3 Megapixel HD webcam, up to a Core i7 processor, 4 GB or RAM, up to 256 GB of Solid State Drive storage, Intel HD Graphics 3000 and up to 8 hours and 53 minutes of battery life. Dell is bringing some new flair to their XPS line of laptops. The new XPS 13 is a Ultrabook packed with power. It comes wit ha 13.3 inch display, Core i7 processor,  Intel HD 3000 graphics and 128 GB or 256 GB SSD storage options. The XPS 13 will also offer a 100 GB of Dell’s DataSafe cloud storage and 1 year of Skype Premium service. The laptop is expected to launch early 2012 for under $1000.

We get a hands-on demo of the Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook. This nearly razor-thin Portege Z830 notebook is based on the Intel Utrabook specs and packs some power at an affordable cost.  The Portege Z830 is only 0.63 inches thick and comes with a 13.3 LED backlit display (1366×768), options for Intel core i3, i5 or i7 processors, Intel HD 3000 graphics card, 128 GB SSD, backlit spill-resistant keyboard, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, HDMI, VGA, 1.3 megapixel camera and weighs only 2.5 LBS and Toshiba promises it will be “under $1000” when it hits retail stores soon.

The Windows 8 Developer Preview is now available and many of us developer or not want to see what it’s all about but don’t want to dedicate a machine or a hard disk to it. Luckily in todays tech world we have the ability to create virtual machines to test out new operating systems and new software. The VM software that we are using is Virtualbox from Oracle and we are installing the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Developer Preview. Watch the tutorial below and post any questions you may have. Just remember that this is just a preview and there will be many bugs and is not recommended for full-time usage.

A recently leaked internal document shows a new Dell tablet is on the way and this time its rocking Windows 7 and codenamed Peju.  The new  Peju tablet from Dell is looking to be a 10 inch tablet is 1920 x 1080 resolution running an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of ram, 2 USB slots, Mini VGA< HDMI, micros SD and 3G Sim car slot. Connections include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G radios. Cameras will be 1.3 megapixel in the front and 5 Megapixels in the rear. Not sure on video recording but I would assume at least 720p. You will be able to interact with it via touch, stylus and USB keyboard and mouse via a docking station. The battery is a 5,550 mAH battery that is expected to get 8 hours of real world usage. For storage there will be 64 GB SSD and 120 GB SSD options.  Dimensions are 10.8 x 6.7 x 0.63 inches and will be 1.9 lbs. which is on the heavier side for tablets.

These specs are in the are of mid range laptop and will be running Windows 7 professional and will be Windows 8 compatible so that could be the reason for such powerful specs so that they are the first tablet out that is Windows 8 ready when it’s released.  From the sounds of it they are trying to make a real tablet PC with full PC functionality. I’m not sure if that’s what people exactly want but the Dell Peju is gearing up to be the tablet that has actually work productivity which is something that tablets are still trying to work out. What I am hoping this is not is a laptop squeezed into a tablet. If you are going for the that form factor then you have to make it work as such. We have to wait to hear more on this one. Shots of Nokia’s first Windows Phone have been leaked out codenamed “Sea Ray.”  Watching the video you see Stephen Elop, asking the crowd to not record or take pictures as they didn’t want it to leaked and of course it has leaked.  The phone follows the look of the N9 but adds a camera button for the 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and the LED flash is in a different place than from where Nokia normally places it.  The phone is running Windows 7 Mango as well. Very interesting design. This is one of probably many different phones rumored up to 5 Windows Phone 7 device from Nokia coming.

Microsoft has unveiled the first look at Windows 8 at D9. The OS takes it look straight from Windows Phone 7’s Metro UI. It will support both standard desktop apps and mobile style apps that are based on HTML 5 and JavaScript. Microsoft has built Windows 8 for touchscreen use form the beginning but no worries traditional keyboard and mouse will still be available with different virtual input styles like split keyboards among other form factors. Multitasking is doing with swipe and snap gestures. Hardware the demos are running on Intel based machines but there will be support for ARM processor designers such as Nvidia, TI and Qualcomm. Windows 8 is just a codename for now but whatever the final name will be I’m hoping we will get that Nokia hardware tablet running this.

Today AT&T announce two brand new high end android and windows phone coming to their lineup.  The LG Thrill 4G is better know by many as the Optimus 3D. The phone will be the first phone in the US to have glasses free 3D screen on a phone. The HD7S has the same specs as the HD7 on T-Mobile but has a Sony Super LCD screen on it.  The LG Thrill 4G will be available in the coming months and the HD7S in the coming weeks.

LG Thrill 4G

Nokia applied and recently received a patent for a tablet like device.  The patent was applied for back in 2010 and is similar is design to the Nokia N8 and was probably a MeeGo device originally.  With the boom of tablets and Nokia starting to make Windows Phone 7 device it could be conceived that they could turn this into a Windows Phone 7 tablet or maybe even the next line in the Zune hardware?  Check out the photos below.
