Sony has reported they have been hacked once again on their Sony Music Entertainment site in Greece. Over 8500 accounts have been compromised with usernames, passwords, addresses and phone numbers stolen but no credit card number were yanked this time. Sony has shut down the website while its going through a security review of it and will re-launch when done. More reports saying that there are traces of unauthorized access in Thailand, Indonesia and Sony Music in Japan.

This has been nothing but a disastrous month for Sony’s Networks. Pretty much since April’s big PSN attack they have been getting hit repeatedly with a total climbing up to the 100 million account range and estimated cost of a $171 million. I’m thinking that doesn’t include the amount of money they will need to spend on PR just to attempt to regain the public’s trust again. We haven’t seen invite go out yet for Sony’s E3 press conference (We have requested an invite but no response as of yet) but I think they have a lot of other things to worry about right now.  My own personal opinion would be for them to skip E3 this year and get their network back together and hold their own separate event in the US later this year. I think this will help them get their act together first and then come with a solid plan on correcting their public image. Who knows if they will do that as its just my own though here but any NGP talk at E3 will most likely be shrouded in all of their network and security issues. 

For anyone that is out there with a Sony account I would suggest watching it and either change or update information on it or if you are not using it at all close it down. Especially the ones that have vital personal information attached to it such as credit cards and address information.

Sony officially announces a new cloud storage option for PSN Plus subscribers.  The storage will will be available starting March 10th with firmware version 3.60. You will get up to a 150 MB of storage space for games saves which hopefully you’ll be able to just login to any PS3 and play your game as if you were home and save it back for later. March 9, 2011 – Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) today announced that online storage for game saves will be available exclusively to PlayStation®Plus subscribers, allowing gamers to back up their save data to the cloud. Online storage for game saves will be available with system software update (v3.60) for the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) system, coming on March 10, 2011 and will be automatically enabled for PlayStation Plus subscribers once users install the update.
With the new feature, PlayStation Plus subscribers can store up to 150MB of PS3 game save data and a maximum of 1000 data files per PlayStation®Network account. "Copy-prohibited save data" is also supported, and all previously backed-up save data may be restored once per 24-hour period. When the new feature launches, most PS3 titles will be compatible with online storage for game saves, and moving forward new titles will have the capability to offer the storage option.
Online storage for game saves ensures that data stored by PlayStation Plus subscribers is more secure than ever and is an integral feature for gamers who wish to access their data on other PS3 systems. Users can check their available/total space at any time via the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar). Users who wish to utilize the feature immediately following the system software update (v3.60), can do so with these instructions:
To back-up:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to back up.
3. Open up the option menu using "triangle" and select [Copy].
4. Select [Online Storage] as the destination of back up.
To copy:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility] > [Online Storage].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to copy.
3. Open up an option menu using "triangle" and select [Copy].
PlayStation Plus is available for a yearly fee of $49.99, and for a limited time, gamers will also receive 3 free bonus months when signing up for a one-year subscription. Gamers can also subscribe to the 3-month option for $17.99.

Sony today has announced that they will be releasing a PlayStation App for Android and iOS devices and the first version of the app will only be available in the UK, France, Spain, Netherlands and Germany.  This puts an interesting spin on the long rumored PSP phone rumors that have been all around the net for awhile.

The PSP Go is official and has been announce and will be released in North America on October 1, 2009.  It will come with 16GB of memory and will not have a UMB slot rather opting for digital downloading of all games from the Playstation Network.
