The Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6 is a PMP (Portable Media Player) from Samsung  that comes with a 3.6 inch HVGA display and powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread with Touch Wiz UI on top. For connections the Galaxy Player comes with Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi N and GPS. It comes with 8 GB of storage with a microSD card slot that supports up to 32 GB of storage.  It’s a small and light device that should fix just find in the pocket. check our unboxing and we’ll have a full review coming soon.

Samsung is looking to take some market share away from Apple in the MP3 and PMP department which they dominate.  We first saw the Galaxy Player 5.0 at the Galaxy S portfolio event in NYC earlier this year. The PMP comes with a 5 inch LCD touchscreen display, 3.2 Megapixel camera with LED Flash, 8 GB of internal storage, micro SD card slow that supports up to a 32 GB card, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and runs Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread with an older version of Touch Wiz UI layered on top.

It’s definitely a thicker and bigger MP3 than what you have with the iPod Touch. Its bigger than your average MP3 player and falls more into the portable media player category aka PMP. The 5 inch screen is large and in charge and I hope will be good for view video content. Check out our unboxing and first impressions below.

The Zion earphones are part of the freedom collection in the House OF Marley brand of ECO-Friendly premium quality products. These earphones like all the Marley products are made with components that are either recycled or biodegradable. The Zion’s have 52” fabric cord that helps reduce tangling. I t doesn’t get rid of it totally but I like the cord a lot.  The headphone jack is gold-plated and at a right angle which hI prefer as it fits much more flush in many devices especially MP3 players like the Zune and iPod that have headphone jacks at the bottom. Speaking of iPod the Zion earphones have play controls and a microphone that work with the iPod, iPhone and iPad that will let you control your music and make calls without needed to pull out the device. It also comes with a nice carrying pouch.

The earphones have a nice solid plastic tip that is curved in on both side for you to grab at your fingertips to place in your ear comfortably. Just before the ear buds there is a nice ring of Birchwood that is FSC-Certified. The ear buts themselves have a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20+ Hz, 9 mm driver, 16 ohms of impedance and a dynamic micro speaker with neodymium magnet for sound reinforcement. The Zion’s are comfortable in the ear and don’t need adjustment once place in and block out plenty of exterior noise.

As far as sound quality goes the Zion’s are superb. Bass comes out strong and clear. Sound is even out of both sides. Listening to all types of music will come in clear and crisp.  You will want to tweak your audio settings in the device your using to tailor it exactly to the type of music your listening to but even without doing that you get a great audio experience.The Zion Headphones retail for $99 and sound like headphones that are in the $150 – $200 range. If you’re an audiophile these are the earphones for you.

Well the writing has been on the wall for a couple of years now but Microsoft has officially announced that they will no longer make Zune HD or Zune Player devices. This doesn’t really come too much as a surprise since Microsoft has stated before that the Zune software now lives within Windows Phone platform. They will still offer support for the devices and your warranty is still good with the devices.

The Zune HD was the first device to really challenge the iPod in terms of software and user experience. We gave the device a great review and I still use the Zune HD as my main MP3 and PMP player. Many other companies tried to copy the iPod but the Zune came with a unique design and user interface with Metro that now see in Windows Phone. With phones become better at multimedia it makes sense for Microsoft to move towards the mobile phone platform.

Sony Erricson has finally come official with the the long rumored PSP Phone now officially name the Sony Xperia Play.  The phone will be an Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered phone with an official PlayStation certified slide out controller.

One of the more interesting details of the phone is that it will be coming exclusively to Verizon in the US which is out of the norm for Sony Ericsson which  usually favors the GSM side is going CDMA on this one and with Verizon.  I’m wondering if its due to the known network issues with AT&T and their data network that they wanted to go with a more reliable data network even though its not as fast as AT&T.  Gamers are going to want consistent connections and any interruption in that is not going to fly so I can see Sony Erricson reasoning for this.

Should be shipping in March and Verizon says “early spring” for a launch time window.

Stylish, understated design

Hercules XPS 101 includes a wired “pulse” remote control that is very intuitive and easy to use, providing precise control of both bass and treble levels, in order to satisfy even the most demanding ears. Archos shows us their  10 inch flagship tablet her at CES 2011.
