Netflix watch instantly feature has change the way many of use watch movies today. It’s not only on-demand but its on-demand by device you choose to watch. You can go from watching a movie on your computer then go over to you TV  and finish watching on the go via the Netflix app. Being that the Nook Tablet is android it can take full advantage of this service. The allows you to manage your entire queue, add items to Instant queue and watch video right on the Nook Tablet. The app is a bit sluggish at times when navigating through but the video plays smooth and the quality looks great. It’s a must have app if you have a Netflix account and a Kindle fire. Despite its recent troubles with pricing and announcements Netflix is still one of the biggest movie series available. Being able to not only stream the content you are watching at home but be able to pause that content and continue right where you left out without fast forwarding is vital for the high media consumer of Movies and TV shows. Nintendo announced today that Hulu Plus will be available on their Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS. You’ll be able to stream thousands of TV show, TV Movies and Clips available on Hulu (We assume anything from Sony will be blocked). There is no set date on when this will show up but it will fall under your Hulu Plus subscription with is $7.99  per month. So if your paying you should be all set to go.

The 3DS will also be getting 3D video capture at the end of November. You can can record up to 10 minutes of video and create your own stop-motion animation videos on the handheld console.

Hulu Plus also offers access to classic TV favorites likeLost, Battlestar Galactica, The Hills and hundreds of popular and award-winning movies. Hulu Plus is available through a separate subscription fee of $7.99 per month with limited advertising.
Nintendo 3DS System Update: At the end of November, a new system update will deliver a range of cool new features and enhancements, including 3D video capture, which will let users record up to 10 minutes of 3D video and enable people to create their own 3D stop-motion animation videos. The update will also add new puzzles to the StreetPass™ Mii Plaza™ and a new dungeon to Find Mii. Other features will be announced in the future.

Games Coming to the Nintendo eShop:

• Freakyforms™: Your Creations, Alive! lets players create creatures and bring them to life. This game is all about creation, customization and exploration. Available in November for $6.99.
• Developed with 3D game play in mind, Pushmo™ asks players to solve more than 250 puzzles by pulling and pushing blocks. Players can also create their own custom puzzles. Launches in December.

3D Animation: Starting today, Nintendo 3DS owners can visit the Nintendo eShop and, for $1.99, download a new 3D “Thriller” video that features singing and dancing by their favorite Shrek characters from DreamWorks Animation.

Today Nintendo released the Nintendo Video app for the 3DS. Nintendo Video allows you to download movies trailers, clips and video shorts in 3D. The app is a free download from the Nintendo eShop. Once you have it downloaded it setup a save area on the SD card for all the videos. Next a connectivity check for Wi-Fi in the area and tt will also suggest to you that you turn on both SpotPass and Notifications so you can download content while in sleep mode I would suggest doing both but you can change those settings later on if you want.

Once you are past that point you will get to the main menu and videos will start to download that are available. Currently there are 4 videos available and when new content arrives the old stuff goes away and deleted off your SD  Card.  Right now it’s a mix of short videos and trailers. Nintendo will select the content for you and it will range between TV, movies trailer, animation and comedy shorts which are all in 3D (playable in 2D if you want). The play controls are pretty simple as the bottom screen has your play/pause button and next to that is the video track to time shift to the place in the video you want to go to.

Currently there is no way to play your own videos in it and there is no choice or filter on the content as it’s all controlled by Nintendo. I’m hoping in the future they will bring YouTube to it and allow you to play 3D content from there since YouTube supports 3D video uploads.  It’s a nice and simple app that doesn’t take up much space, its free and gives you free content so grab it and download it.

Let’s take a look at Netflix on the Nintendo 3DS that just got released today. Netflix on the 3DS was announced just before the release of the  Nintendo 3DS console. Now it being 4 months since that announcement we have it available to download  from the Nintendo eShop now for US customers only.

The app will download directly to your SD card and is free from the eShop. When you first open it up if you don’t have a Netflix account you will need to set one up but if you do it will give you an activation code that you will need to go into your account and type it in to activate it. One you have all that setup you will see the main menu which looks like other Netflix enable devices apps.

You will see all of your items in the instant queue and see the rest of the genre categories to choose from. Pressing the Y button will bring up the search that you will need to use the stylus to type in because the keyboard is very small. The search will try to find the content you’re looking for while you type it in. Tapping into any video title or pressing the A button will bring up information about the movie, ratings and its options to Play Now, Add to Instant Queue and if available Subtitles/Audio options and for TV shows More Episodes. If you don’t want to go through the menu you can just go to any video title and hit the X button and it will start streaming right away.

The video plays on the top screen while the bottom screen is blank until you tap it which pauses the movie and gives you the play time and time shift bar. Just side the bar over to the scene that you want to go to and hit play and to go back to the main menu just hit the B button or tap Back.

You can’t stream 3DS movies yet but certain parts of the App are 3D like the time shift bar and menu items. The app is a bit slow on loading thumbnails and search but updates should come to improve that. I would like to see Nintendo release an output cable of some sort to play Netflix on your TV while on the road. It would be great if it’s in HD but standard would be found as long as the ability is there. Also I would like to see them create some type of 3G or 4G card that could slide into the 3DS slot and able to connect on the go and you’re not near a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Hulu Plus is finally here on the Xbox 360 (Better late that never) and here his my review.

Hulu Plus is available in the Video Marketplace section of your Xbox 360. Once you have it downloaded you will need to sign in with your account. You will need a Hulu Plus subscription which will cost you $7.99 per month and be an Xbox Live Gold Member as well which runs about $60 per year.

Once you since in with your account your taken to the main screen which is very like Netflix and other apps on the Xbox 360.  You have pre defined sections with Popular movies, TV Shows, clips and Recently added movies, TV shows and clips. There is also group search by TV, Movies, Clips etc. in alphabetical order. There is search functionality as well which is pretty fast.  Each show allows you go get deeper details, choose available episodes,, seasons and similar shows.

You have a Queue linked to you Hulu.com account. Anything in your queue will show up on both the app and the website. However this is where you may run into a problem because some content is not available t0 watched on your TV. Content that you see a “Web Only” banner on won’t be allowed  to watch on your TV though the Xbox 360 which is lame. You can add it to your queue to watch on the web though.

Watching content is a very good experience. If you have the internet connection speed and its available you will get it in nice, clear and smooth HD. Video controls are exactly the same as other video players in Xbox 360. One cool thing about the app is that it is full Kinect enabled. When you pull up the Kinect Hub you get the tiled menu. You can used both hand gestures and voice commands to choose content and control video playback.

Hulu Plus on the Xbox 360 is a solid experience and is making your cable bill look a lot worse because if you think about it you must have Xbox Live Gold which is $60 per year and averages out to $5 per month. You will need a Hulu Plus subscription which is $8 per month and if you get a Netflix account that’s another $8 you can spend around $21 a month and have real close to full entertainment experience. Think about that?!

T-Mobile and Samsung have announced the brand new Sidekick 4G. The rumored replacement to the Danger sidekick which is going offline come May is now real and android powered.

The Sidekick 4G will have the very familiar look from past sidekicks with a “pop-tilt” screen with a 3.5 inch display and a touch screen which is the first for the Sidekick family.  It will come with a 5 row full QWERTY keyboard, 4G data speeds, 1 Ghz processor and Android 2.2  Check the press release and pics below

Apple iOS 4.3 for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad iis now available a couple of days earlier that the original announced date of March 11th which is the same day as the iPad 2 release.  All you need to do is plug in your iPod and iTunes should automatically check. If it doesn’t you can go into the iPod section of iTunes and click on update.  The download is about 653 MB in size and may take a bit of time to download for Apple’s services. Give yourself about an hour or so for the update.
