The Ecobee3 Is An Excellent Smart Thermostat

Connected devices in the home are becoming more common especially with smart thermostats. While there is quite a few out there, I find that the Ecobee3 Smart Thermostat buzzes past the competition.

The Ecobee3 package comes with the thermostat, room sensor, and self-install kit. The kit should work with most heating and cooling systems. The self-install process is not complicated, but if you find yourself a bit, I would suggest contacting their support team (which I did on another issuesI had), who are very helpful and will work with you to get your Ecobee3 installed.

While the Ecobee 3 supports the majority of home systems out there, I would suggest checking compatibility ahead of time to be sure.  The Self install kit includes the screws and mounts you will need for most install configurations.  The setup on the Ecobee3 is pretty straightforward and will calibrate with your home system and environment to work properly. You will also need Wi-Fi as you will need that to communicate with it anywhere you go.

Once you get every setup, you can control the temperature in each room. You can set it up based on time of day and current temperature. The room sensor that comes with it (more can be purchased) can be placed around the house and will detect when someone is in the room and regulate the temperature if needed based on your settings. If no one is in the room, the Ecobee won’t waste energy controlling the temps in the room. This helps save money on operating costs.

Change The Temp From Anywhere In The World

Since the Ecobee is a Wi-Fi thermostat, you can connect to it on the go through the Ecobee App which is available for both iOS, Android, and desktop. The same menu controls on the physical thermostat are available within the app. You can control your home temps while on the go. I like to be able to set my temps the way I like it before coming home in the evening for cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  The Ecobee is also compatible with Apple Homekit and Alexa if you have those in the home already. I don’t have either one of these setups yet, so I can’t tell you my experience with them.

I found the Ecobee to be very easy to use. The controls are straightforward and easy to understand, and their support team is great. I had an issue where during the winter time the heat wasn’t kicking on properly. They were able to work with me to get it functioning properly and stayed with me until everything is working as it should.

To put it simply, I’ve had a very positive experience with the Ecobee. I can recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their home thermostat.
