The DROID Charge by Samsung comes packed with a 8 megapixel camera and 720p video recording. Let’s see how well it works.
The DROID Charge has two cameras a 8.0 megapixel rear facing camera with HD video capture in 720p and a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat which we’re not able to use at the moment as current video apps for android don’t support the front facing camera just yet as of this review.
The camera app itself is the same that you have seen in most high end Samsung devices that have TouchWiz. It’s the same song and dance as before. It’s a solid app that is laid out well. The pictures turn out great on this camera. Colors are correct and images are clear. We took shots in both 8 megapixel and in widescreen format which is 6 megapixel and both give you great image quality. You’ll need to be careful where you use flash because it can wash out the picture if not used properly but that is the same for pretty much all camera phones if you can avoid using flash on them they don’t.
Video comes in at 720p and its looks good. In our test video you can the video is clear, crisp and no lag. The microphone picks up audio clear and well. In windy conditions you’ll defiantly here a ton of wind in the video. The videos are perfect for uploading to YouTube or Facebook and you will get HD quality when uploaded.
Samsung has been packing high quality cameras into their top tier phones and just like the Infuse 4G camera the DROIC Charge camera is great and the best I’ve seen on a phone since the Nokia E7. Cell phone are becoming more and more the dominate quick pocket video device of choice.
