The LG X120 Netbook is a 3G ready netbook that comes out in the crowded market of 3G ready netbooks. Does the X120 stand out amount the rest to be the best.  Check out the review, videos and pics inside to find out.

Hardware

The first thing that stands out when you look at the X120 is the nice soft look and feel of it with the nice accents on the the side that give it a nice touch of color with the nice soft rounded edged.  The keyboard is a nice size and feels good to type on the keys. The mouse pad as a bit of a plastic feel to it but it  does work well. The 10.1 in screen gives you a lot of screen real estate to work with when looking at longer documents such as spreadsheets.  There is a 1.3 Megapixel camera that can be used for video chat and Skype calls.  To this on the road the netbook comes 3G ready, an 1.6ghz Intel Atom processor and 1GB of ram and 7 hours of battery life on a full charge to round up the hardware specs.

LG Smart On

A quick way to access information without full loading into the OS you can. the OS turns on in a second and gives you access to quick things such as Web, Music, Pictures, Online Gaming and Chat.  The interface which is a Linux based OS is pretty quick and simple to use and give you what you need quickly on the go and even will save you battery life.

Windows XP and 3G coverage

The netbook does come with Windows XP which does work well but Windows 7 on here would work much better since its designed more for netbooks.  For 3G coverage we are using AT&T 3G which when we were in coverage did work well but it can be spotty at times but I would put that more on AT&T network coverage not being as adequate and not the netbooks performance which is stellar when on 3G.

Overall

Overall the netbook is solid with great features, nice looks and great speeds. We do wish that it came with Windows 7 that would take better advantage of this hardware. If you are in the market for a netbook the LG X120 is one to look out for and definitely consider picking up.

The big change come into the main menu which now you scroll though form side to side and and you can pull up the mention to reveal a bigger screen. You have an All section but menu options are group into different categories as well. The browser has been upgraded to support webkit and giving you a better desktop like experience. 

It seems the major part of this update is the layout and browser update which are two needed things in a very stale Blackberry OS. The update look gives it a nicer and more cool looking UI but at the same time it does feel like like look is still a few years behind the others.  Overall its going to be a great update for Blackberry users but only time will tell where it will compete in this very competitive mobile OS market.

Apple’s attack of the issue basically came down to giving away free cases for all iPhone 4 users and new buyers until September 30th. They also are giving money back to users that have already purchase the case or bumper from them. They also made some comparisons of other smartphones such as the Blackberry 9700 (Bold) and the Samsung Omnia II. 

To me Apple is willing selling you a flawed product while may not happen to everyone they are saying we will sell it flawed for now and give you a case to prevent this issue from happening but you have to use this case to prevent this issue fully. Accessories should be an option not a requirement and it seems here that it’s a requirement.

I also find that Apple is hurting the Case manufactures for then next couple of months with this free case which seems to be a way of pushing the cost of a recall a bit off to the case companies who will lose profit and will cost apple a little but not a lot down the line when compared to a recall.  Also making the comparison of reception issues to two smartphones that are conveniently Verizon phones is a bit tacky in my opinion as this is about them and their issue and pointing out others doesn’t make it any better.  Also I found this overall conference to have a vibe more focused on Apple investors rather than consumers. It seems like the stock price was a more of a concern than the consumer who is affect by this.

It will be very interesting to see how this will affect apple as this issue tied into the Gizmodo issues have created a not so smooth launch for Apple which is strange thing for them.

Looks like Blackberry is coming to step up their game and not get left behind Android and iOS 4 with a new video showing a preview of Blackberry 6 OS. Does RIM look to be cooking up a winner in Canada and will compete in this highly competitive OS market?  Read on inside to watch the video and more.

From what it looks like RIM really wants to step it up in the visual department with Blackberry 6 as the UI has a much richer look. The media controls have been updated with a better interface. What seems to be the main focus is all about social networking and communication (like all phones these days)  as it shows united social media streams with Twitter, Facebook, Blackberry Messenger and RSS feeds all in one unified interface with the ability to post one update to all services.  The browser looks to have caught up with the rest and improved to a more full desktop browser experience.

We will have to wait and see how this all pans out.  From what it looks like the interface is more touch friendly and more focused on the Blackberry Storm type device rather than a traditional blackberry.  Hopefully for RIM Blackberry can come in and be a contender in the mobile OS game as step up from being a low cost entry or enterprise option to a more streamline and causal option with rich interface, features and apps.  But with the mobile OS market dominated by Apple and Google and with Windows Phone 7 coming around the corner will RIM and Blackberry 6 be able to grab app developers and the consumers to make a splash?
