The Good

  • High Resolution Screen
  • on GSM and CDMA networks
  • Enterprise E-mail Support
  • Useful Media Application
  • Innovative Click screen for typing

Some Drawbacks

  • Touch Click Screen for typing can take some time  getting used to
  • Full Blackberry Application Center not available until March 2009
  • Browser is improved but still not very good

Conclusion:

This is first shot at putting out a all device and they have done a very good job on the first try. It does a good job of blending Blackberry core business features with more fun and media centric applications. It would help for RIM to take the OS for this phone and give it a bit more eye within each of the applications and features where you can touch and drag items and be able to bring up the menu system by clicking the screen down and holding it. Also the browser is better but still a complete waste of time compared to other browsers out there.

If you in line for a new phone and looking for a PDA phone then the is a great choice. For those that have been waiting for a solid iPhone competitor then this is the phone for you.  While its somewhat incomplete without the full App Center this is for now RIM’s best Blackberry to date.

Fix For Blackberry Storm YouTube Error

image31 Blackberry Storm There are some reports that users are having issues getting a java error when trying to use the YouTube app for the blackberry storm.  In the comments on the post on the site a fix was posted. I have posted it on here for users to see if it works for them. Post a comment if this works for you.

This is a media permissions error

Go to OPTIONS, then ADVANCED OPTIONS, APPLICATIONS select YOUTUBE app press blackberry button select EDIT PERMISSIONS, select INTERACTIONS and set to ALLOW.

    I’m in France and I put my blackberry storm updated OTA. I do not understand English very well you could do a tutorial in text so that I can translate. it would be easier for me by google translation.

      Unfortunately I no longer own the device so outside of the quick fix I found there isn’t anything else I know that would work.

    I tried the fix for playing you tube videos using the app on my storm…However I am still getting the same error messsage…Is their anymore you can offer??

      You will want to check Verizon coverage map on their site. Search for international services and it will come up.

    I’m 15, and i have a Blackberry Storm.
    I flashed the service to Cricket.
    but now my apps won’t work, and my phone ALWAYS freezes up,
    i really wouldn’t recommend this phone, if you want a smart phone
    get a motorola droid or something.
